Pitman on Steering box gappage insight

Sup gies hopefully someone here can help .
I'm wondering if this pitman arm in picture should be sitting higher on the steering box gearing. I'm tightening the he'll out of the bottom to force the arm up ,but it doesn't want to climb I've been driving like this for 6 months or so with no problem . But it bugs the he'll out of me. I know there can be Gapage without problem. I know it won't go flush up to the seal WHACHA THINK |
My pitman arm is sitting slightly low and it is normal hence i changed mine just over 2 year ago and also installed the Cognito Pitman & Idler Arm Support Kit, there is suppose to be a little plastic to protect the open area, but yours seems to be sitting a little lower than my pitman arm. There is a tool specifically used by GM to push that pitman arm a bit higher but not all the way up.
Hope this helps ;) |
If it is torqued to specs I would say it's OK but it sure looks like it should be up a bit more to me.

Thanks guys I agree with ya both its a bit low, Ill try to tool it up a bit higher with the correct tool. I'm not overly concerned about my safety cause tht bolt is almost all the way on . But i may leave it be so the pitman is easier to get off in the future , we know its a bi*# to get off. lol thanks guys guess site isnt too dead :D

My OEM, never changed by the PO installation has 3 to 4 threads showing on the spindle above the nut, and a 3/8" or so plastic spacer between the pittman arm and the steering box.
