Panel says open door when there isn't

When the wife or I get in and close the doors the panel said there's an open door but there isn't. Also when we start the engine all the doors lock, as they should, but now the drivers door unlocks. And the last couple of days the other doors do not lock. We also get the "chimes" which gets old really quick. Now the dome light will not turn off. The only way to turn them off is by pushing the button below the light switch or removing the bulbs. Could this indicate the switch in the drivers door is bad? Any help will be greatly appreciated!! :D

Check all of the plunger switches at each door. They have been known to get corroded and have bad connections, which results in electrical gremlins. They are cheap and easy to replace.

Search Door Jamb Switches. I have seen OEM ones as cheap as $6.00 on Ebay. Good Luck

this is the procedure that I used from Broken Halo when mine went bad:

Unplug harness from switch (tip: put a piece of tape on the harness to the door jamb so it doesn't go into the hole or you'll have a good time trying to fish it back out:eek:). This will simulate switch being in an 'open' condition which is what tells the BCM to turn off lights. Give a couple of minutes for delay to time out. If lights stay on, go to next switch and do the same thing. Continue through all 5 doors until you come to a switch where the lights go out. That is your bad switch (assuming the problem IS a bad switch). This way you can diagnose the problem without investing any money or waiting for delivery of a new switch.
