Well I like the results. :D I also show some steps I took and what the original door looked like. I ended up redoing this one because it was a little short on the bottom :mad:

I have an 03 with the OEM silver accented dash and I have to say that it is definitely beat up and it just doesnt do anything for me. Looks a little cheap (maybe thats because it is eatten up some... not sure)
Anyways, I have to say the dressed up black is very nice.

Ok sure we have these hardcore 4x4 trucks and we arent really looking for classy right?
Ehhh not so much. We have leather seats, seat warmers, zoned a/c, power everything.... so why cant it be a little more classy looking.

Anyways, I am going to follow you and your recolor because I am going the same route (especially now after seeing your picture)

Could you give a break down on all you did to recolor?

Thanks...basically I pulled everything out of the truck and cleaned it up. The radio bezel and console lid I did in black plasti dip and everything else is gloss black duplicolor plastic spraypaint. I'll add better pics when I finish the door pieces. My flash on the camera at night made the pics look a little wierd, I noticed in the pics the a/c vents and stuff really stand out against the black but it actually looks bad ass and blends in nicely.

how exactly did you "clean it up"

I disassembled everything and cleaned it with thinner before I painted.

did the thinner take it down to the plastic?
I have some areas with some big chips and i dont want to paint over the chips

(I am asking because I figured I would have to sand them down and if I could easily use thinner that would make this so much easier)

If you have chips or scratches I would use some sandable primer/filler first then sand it down to fill them in and then paint. I just used a rag with VERY little thinner to clean off the dust and dirt before painting. A lot of it might actually melt the plastic. Also make sure the areas to paint haven't recently been cleaned with something like armor-all as that will probably mess it up the paint adhesion.

so you just painted over the original paint, and didnt remove all the oem paint first before you painted?
