painted dash
5 Attachment(s)
My silver paint was fading in a couple places so I painted my dash pieces and center console black. The piece around the radio and climate control and the console lid is plastidip and the other pieces are duplicolor plactic spraypaint.I was experimenting with both. It turned out pretty good I think against the tan except for the paint smell is taking forever to go away!

I have the paint code for the metallic silver/ grey after spending a week with my paint supply house if you would like it. I don't care for how it turned out, but then it's your truck. Against all the factory grey parts your tan air bag and the metallic grey left on your door pulls (plus their is no black in the wheat interior other then a very items) it reminds me of what a corner fly by night car lot with 180k+ miles vehicles with in house eveyones approved financing would do. :p

To each their own
And the "their" is possessive:) I think a before and after shot would have been better but I can see the next step being fluorescent green!

I like the duplicolor over the plastidip as the plastidip has a real flat look and feels weird. I'm doing little by little due to time constraints, prob hit my grey door pieces and rear radio bezel next. It looks much better with the black.
|
I just did my dash in Plasti Dip and like the flat black much better than the silver. I held the center radio/ac surround piece next to the stock piece on my wife's 05 Lux and it's the same. So the plastic dip just matches what a stock Lux dash looks like. It's pretty durable too. My wife put her feet on the dash where I sprayed the parts on each side of the grab handle(I almost flipped my lid) and it didn't mess it up. Did you paint your airbag tan/grey? My airbag on the steering wheel was already black. I'm pretty sure that anyone that gets in my H2 would never know that the dash pieces were painted.
|
The steering wheel airbag piece was tan (stock). I'll prob paint that when I do the doorpulls and rear radio bezel next. That will prob do it. I like the black against the tan.The silver (grey if you ask me) I didn't care for either.

lol It's funny you posted this because I just plasti Dipped my first piece today, as a trial. I'm also experimenting with my rear door as well. It was cracking and my (drunk) friend put his foot through the bottom part of the door . So, I epoxied the back side of the cracks and started working on an insert for the bottom. I am also going to try paining the Silver handle parts to black.
I like the black with the gray interior in mine Idk about the tan. |
