p0305 error code

i have an 06 h3 with 51k. recently i have been getting a traction control failure\service stabilitrac system. i used a friends scan tool and got a p0305 cylinder 5 misfire. i was wondering if anyone else has experianced this problem. thought it could be bad injecter\plug\plugwire\coil pack? thanks

RE: p0305 error code

The p0305 can mean several things. From a simple mis, to a toasted head. You definitely have the right idea. Check the wiring to the coil on plug pack, pull the spark plug and take a peek. I would also swap the coil pack with say #3 and see if it makes any difference.

The same code also shows up if your fuel injectors are clogged, part of a TSBand it shows up after 30K or so usually.

RE: p0305 error code

thanks, i havent had time to try anything yet. its kinda odd because it comes on and goes off randomly. havent noticed it running bad and does not have a ruff idol so i didnt think it was the head.

RE: p0305 error code

I had the head replacement last year about this time. I did not have rough idle at all that was obvious. The check engine light would come on for a day or two and then go off. After about the fourth time this happened, I took it to the dealer and they called me to say they needed to replace the head.

a few tanks of lucas injector cleaner and stopped buying gas a a certain station seamed to fix the problem. several thousand miles later i have not had any more issues.

Let's hope that continues to work for you.

I know they say gas is gas, but if you always buy the cheapest stuff, your injectors will sure look a lot cruddier than the guy who was burning Marathon, BP, or Sunoco for the same miles.
