Default Oil Pressure Question

Since the Hummer is an offroad vehicle, you would think that everything that you would need would be there when you bought it. My question is why is there no oil pressure gauge? If you are climbing and decending hills how do you know when the oil pump is running dry? Is the computer smart enough to shut it down before permanent damage? Has anyone had any probs when they climb?

There's an oil light indicator on the bottom right side of the instrument panel. If there are any issues that light will come on. In most instances the oil is pumped into the engine from close to the bottom of the oil pan. This means that as long as you are not low on oil then it shouldn't matter whether you are climbing hills or not.

I agree that there should be a gauge...one of the first things I noticed that I thought was an oversight. Sure there is an idiot light but they are also called idiot lights cause only idiots wait till the lights turns on to know you have a problem!
