Oil change sensor in driver information center

I can't find any reference to the mileage for this in the manual. Do you go by this notice in the driver information center, or do you change the oil at a set mileage? If so, what do you use?

I change the oil every 3000 on conventional and 5000-6000 on synthetic.

We change our every 5000 synthetic unless the DIC says to change it earlier.

The GM OLMS has no sensor. It is a computer algorithm that calculates 600 miles before oil life is expended based upon use of conventional oil and the driving condition your truck encounters (temperature, load, short distance, stop & go.....). When it says CHG OIL you should do so within the next 600 miles. I use Mobil 1 and change it only when I get the message, which is somewhere between 7000 and 9300 miles. No need to piss away $ on changing oil that is still good.

It's called technology, use it. ;)

I only change the oil when I see that it is discolored during oil level checks. Dirty oil is bad oil.
