Default Oil change percent??

Hi everyone, when should i change my oil? My percent on the on board computer says it is at 34%, the dealer wants to charge me $37.99 is that decent or should i just take it to a oil place, or would it be cheaper to do it myself and if so how hard is the job and whats the best parts and oil to use??

God Bless, and have a safe new year!!!

Greg

I change mine at 0% when the DIC says so.... that's about 5800-6500 miles.

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic.

Personally I feel that if you can tie your shoe you should be able to change your oil... but I am a mechanic.

If they are gonna use Synthetic Oil $37.99 isn't that bad of a price....

It is always cheaper to change the oil yourself. Can be a problem getting rid of the old oil. For $37.00 on a cold day I would let someone else do it.

I am at 98% right now but when it comes time to change it, I will do it myself. I have done my Dad's 2004 Chevy Truck and I am pretty sure it will be just as easy. At least with the H2 you don't have to worry so much about jacking it up.

Wow, my dealer, Dew Hummer in St. Pete, charges $60 for an oil change (Not syn either). That is out the door, including recycle fees and all. I started going to the GMC dealer in Sarasota that charges $39.99 for a syn blend oil change. I like the sound of $29.99 though.

What year??

It makes a difference.... and it will also be in your manual if you have one with the vehicle.
