I was told that a number of H3's have come off the line with temporary fluid (dark blue with "compound" in it) and that standard differential fluid was not put in prior to release for sale. This has the effect of wrecking the differential. Don't ask me how, this is just what the mechanic said. Normal differential fluid should be light brown. Mine of course was the dark blue stuff. They may have to replace the rear diff too. We'll see.

Anybody have any idea what the dark blue with "compound" fluid is??

just out of curiosity what is the build date on your h3

 

I will check it tonight, but its an 07 and I bought it in February.

 

MFg. Date is Jan 07. Why do you ask??
