no trade in/up for me.......

I went to the dealer today with my mint 07 H3; 14k on the odometer. I was ready to trade up..... till they told me 13-14k trade value for my current ride. I suddenly like my'07 a whole lot more!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable. What is the blue book trade-in value of your car?

The reason why the trade-in value is so low is because of two reasons:

1. The dealer has to be able to make money on the resale of the vehicle, and rarely can a dealer sell a vehicle for the suggested retail value on the books. Sure, they may put it on the lot with the sticker reflecting the suggested retail value, but that doesn't mean thats what they'll be forced to sell it for.

2. The market is down, and the gas prices are up. Thus, it's difficult for the dealers to sell vehicles like Hummers, and expect to make any considerable profit. Hence, why they don't want to give much on a trade-in.

Just for the record, I purchased my 07 H3 w/ the tactical package(blacked out package is what I call it since that is basically what it is) with an aftermarket sunroof and tinted windows and only 8k miles on the odometer for 21k even. I think I got a good deal.

Unbelievable is right....Just a month ago while I was at the dealers they offered for my 07 H3 mint condition also about the same miles at the time $23,000 to trade up on a H2,and I thought that was to low and laughed. I am keeping mine and I was not looking to sell at the time anyhow! $13,000 still with the market the way it is is still unbelievable to believe.

OUCH!

I would have to think the 0% for 72 months can't help. Why would someone buy an '07, even if it's in mint condition when they can customize their'08 for less? My bank is quoting 6.85% for used vehicles. I haven't done the math, but it seems like new would be better. We bought our '07 new, when we had originally gone in to look at a used H3. The new H3 was only $18/more per month.

I would try to sell outright if you are interested. They are making the money on the trade and the upgrade. We pulled KBB a few weeks ago on our '07 and trade-in value was $21K (which still made me sick).
