Next H2 up for Duramax

This is my next baby up for a Duramax LBZ conversion
4 inch mbrp exhaust, new injectors, PPE ported fuel rail fittings
and PPE fuel valve, k&n 5 inch intake, egr delete, arp head studs
reasealed motor using mahle head c gaskets and gasket kit. New
water pump, new thermostats, new radiator, new fan and clutch.
500hp tune. Going with a black and red theme under hood. Black
Allison transmission and tcase. I was thinking of raptor lining the
engine bay and under cab.

This is the beauty going in it.

Must be nice having 500hp and getting 19mpg. What a great swap. I love the black but not so much the red. I like to see the aluminum on the engine. Doesn’t matter what I like because it’s not mine. I hope you post pics and maybe the real numbers like mpg and what it feels like to drive it compared to the 6.0. I was looking for a high mileage H2 that was really clean and send it to predator for the conversion. I don’t have the skills to make it happen and I would get stuck at wiring and gauges! Tuning also.

You mean this fuel mileage? I did this conversion on a 2003 h2 and sold it $32,000

That’s awesome! I’m averaging 7.7 so almost 13 mpg more is so ridiculous. That’s great that all the gauges are working. Great job.

I like the black and red combo, not to crazy about the red split loom though. That is great that you can tackle a project like this. I bet each one gets easier than the first. How are they for service? Say they need a head gasket or new injectors, is there room to perform those tasks? We need to see in progress pictures.

I take the body’s off if I have to get too hard to reach spots like head gaskets. Especially with the arp head studs. You have to pull the heads to far up. Maybe regular head bolts you could do the head gaskets without taking body off. Not an easy service on them that’s for sure. Injectors are easy. Turbo not so easy need body off.

Thanks so much. Been waiting years for someone to release a Dmax build. Its always been kept out of sight. Your link is awesome. I have never seen so much info on a swap. Much appreciated. Dont know how i missed the original. Glad I saw it this time. Should be a sticky. So this info never gets lost.

Just how easy is it to take the body off? I've dreamed of not only doing a dmax swap but pulling the body off to go through everything with a fine toothed comb, get rid of rust, etc.
