New wheels, squealing around every turn
 

Upgraded my stock 16" chrome rims to a new set of 18" chrome OEM rims with new Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires (P265/65R18).

My original Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires (P265/75R16) barely ever made a sound around corners - no matter how fast, but these new tires squeal around every turn at slow and even worse as the speed increases.

Is it just the type of tire or is there something that can be done to prevent the squeal?

Have you recently checked you alignment?

No, but it is off by just a hair. Do you think this could cause the squealing?

Is your H3 a 2006? If so, I wonder if it could be in 4 High lock due to the plastic trasfercase fork...

Mine is a 2007. It's not in 4 High lock and I've had the plastic fork replaced with the new version by a Hummer dealer when there were still Hummer dealers.

Our '09 came with the exact same Bridgestone Dueler A/T tires (P265/65R18) as yours and they don't squeal unless the truck is pushed somewhat hard. The tires were a little worn with 18k miles on them when we got the truck this past spring. My guess is that your tires will quiet down as they wear in a bit.

My hunch is based on the fact that when I upgraded to Duratrac's on our old truck, they howled around corners for about the first 5k miles.

Sounds like those bro wheels might have a different offset which can change your alignment. Might have to figure out a setting different than the book says.
You need to try 0 on the toe in and see if that stops it.
You can try the old school and spray some white paint across the tires and drive around the block and see if it comes off evenly.
Check your tire pressure.

@NJTEX: Thanks for the feedback. The tires had a few thousand miles on them already when I purchased them (from a local guy), but I will wait to see what happens. Maybe adding another 10,000 to 15,000 miles will help with the squealing? We'll see.

@Hunner: Thanks for the recommendation. I plan on taking it up to the GM dealer for an alignment. I will suggest the recommendations you made and report back.

mine does it on concrete. What is causing it is that fact that the fronttires are being pushed sideways while turning. If you are on non-grooved/non-textured concrete, you reduce yor traction. My alpha does it at idle when pulling into a parking space at certain stores

@skeeter: Yes, I realize the same thing with my new Bridgestone tires. Depending on the type of pavement, the squealing is either very loud (so loud that pedestrians walking through the parking lot are turning heads) or very subtle- just loud enough for me to hear it with the windows up and music on at a low volume. However, in my parking garage, which has a textured concrete surface, the Bridgestone tires can still squeal around corners even though my old Goodyear tires never could.
