Hey guys sorry it took me awhile to respond. I wanted 17s for a little more ground clearance I live in central ny def have to deal with snow but I don't have to commute very far. Most of the trails around here are mud and rocks I fully intend on getting UCP. I'll play around and see if I should get lockers I plan on going to Rausch Creek in PA this summer and like I said before I prolly won't be crawling rocks too much? Doesn't sound like the 17s would help me out too much so I'll prolly avoid them. What are good places to get the UCP? Thanks alot guys!

You made the right decision. Rim diameter doesn't have anything to do with ground clearance. Tire diameter does.
Most of us run 33" or 35" diameter on 16" (mostly OEM) rims.

Stock H3's do just fine at Rausch Creek on the green trails. We do a few group runs during the year. We are just beginning to plan for the first run in April.
I would suggest going on the group run and talking to the other guys and looking at their setups before investing in something you don't need.

Also DAGKANA should be stalking you soon to let you know about CHO

Hey, I am from CNY as well. I am east of Syracuse. I am planning on going to RC with CHO in April. We should meet up sometime soon for a local run and talk about RC! We can get a convoy going out of CNY LMAO.

UCP is kinda tough to find today. I saw an OEM set on ebay the other day. I would search there and on the web.

A lot of us grabbed up Boulder Accessories UCP when they went under, so that source is gone unless you find a used set, or get real lucky.

You won't gain ground clearance from rim size, only increased tire diameter. Were do you like in central NY? There is a ton of mud around here, so a good M/T is almost a must in my experience. If you are going to use them in the winter, I would look for something sipped. I would stick with the factory wheels and upgrade to a 305/70R16 or 315/75R16 tire. Currently there is only one person on eBay with OEM UCP.

The last time I checked it was on national back order with no scheduled production date, so I would at least message them and make sure they have them in stock. The price maybe a bit high after shipping but I guess it depends on if they have been released off back ordered or discounted.

I found the cage for about 254 online at hummerpartsonline.com I can take that to work and weld some sheets of metal to it and make it fully protect the undercarriage I'm def going with 16 in rims my stock rims a chrome and the salt here has already torn them apart so I'll buy some cheap ones I found.
