Just bought new 2010 h3 without the monsoon sound system and added a Kenwood dnx6020ex. Since putting it in, my factory speakers sound aweful! What is cheapest way to make it sound better? Add a sub and amp? replace door speakers? I dont really want to lose my cargo space in back, so it have to be something small. I saw the JBL hideaway, but I dont have the right panels because I did not get monsoon package. I went to local stereo store today, of course they said I need some $1000 system to make it better...I have put so much into it already, that $1000 more for a cleaner sound with a little bass just isnt worth it. I figured my fellow Hummer folk could me out...thanks...I am glad I found this page!

 

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new H3. Post your question over in the H3 subforum and you'll likely get lots of great help.

 

I would check the Kenwood reciever to see if it has a built in high and lowpass filter setting and totally get rid of the bass in the factory speakers, then add a low cost 12 inch with ported small box you could get for about $400, JL preferably and point it to the rear. 250 watts on the amp and you will be surprized. Sound does not radiate outside the H3 well due to the airflow limitations and insulation, inside you will be deaf

 

So an amp, sub and box...I am going to replace factory door speakers as well. Guess I will spend another grand afterall...lol...its worth it though because the Kenwood unit does it all. Thanks for your help!!
