New '08 H2 Graystone Metallic

Hello all, just picked up a new '08 H2 in the Graystone Metallic. The color is outstanding! Only drove it from the dealer home, but here are my first impressions / observations. I know some of this has already been covered, just figured I'd share my thoughts...

- No HID. Can't believe this isn't standard as of yet.
- A/C venting in the rear is nice and blows strong.
- Factory running boards not standard.
- Factory roof racks not standard.
- Rear back up camera in Nav unit is kinda nice.
- Rear license plate holder in rear door does not have provisions for mounting plate. No screws or lights. I usually take the rear tire off so I'll have to figure something out here.
- New wheels are nice and centers match the Graystone Metallic.
- Fit and finish on the interior is nice. Seats are comfortable and everything is laid out nice. Analog clock in the dash is odd, but ok I guess.
- Rear 3rd row seating is nice with the additional seat. Can't believe it took this long to get this as standard.
- Engine and trans are real smooth. Same nice Hummer exhaust rumble as before.
- Driver information center was showing about 15 MPG with mixed city highway driving home.
- Driving on the highway is nice with the 3.73 gears. Don't recall exactly what the RPM's were at 60 MPH but it was running smoothly and the RPM's weren't up there.

It's loaded with the exception of the rear air suspension which I didn't want or need. They sold it to me at $500 under invoice and threw in the factory chrome tubular running boards and the factory roof racks.

It looks awesome without the running boards, but the wife said running boards are a must. Didn't realize how high these were until you go to get in or out without the running boards.

I'll post pictures of it this weekend when I get a moment.

Thinking of getting HID's. Anyone have any good suggestions or recommendations on these?
Thanks. [sm=americanasmiley.gif][/align]

Congratulations!

Not sure how you'll feel about these steps, or if they match your style, but I think they are a very affordable alternative to the factory stuff.

Pretty clean looking in my humble opinion. (I was gonna get a set to replace my factory steps, but got rock rails instead)

The one's I saw in person were very solid and the workmanship was quite nice...(They now have them for the H3 as well)

Congrats! I also just picked up an 08' H2 in graystone metallic/ebony....mine has the rear air suspension, but really didn't care if it had it or not! It was an option that I could have lived with/without, but really wanted the graystone color, so I bought it! Your assessment is right on! I am looking to relocate my rear spare tire as well, and was wondering were I would place the license plate???? Let me know what you do. Mine just hit 200 miles and I am loving every minute of it. I too like the wheels as they have some gray in them which blends with the rig nicely. Good luck and congrats.

I actually got lucky when I went to get this one. They had 3 in this color, 1 with the rear air suspension, 1 without Nav and the one I got with Nav but no rear air suspension.

I had the dealer throw in the 'factory' running boards and roof racks with the deal, other wise it would have been an additional $1500.

The new interior is nice, takes a little getting used to as it is different from the traditional H2 interior.

I think the only thing I would have liked them to do with this is make the steering wheel a little thicker, about like what it is in the Corvette. The thicker wheel gives it a better feel. The new wheel alsohas a little less depth ofthe deeper finger notches on the back side of the wheel.

For the rear plate I'm thinking of doing one of two things. I figure I can fabricate some sort of license plate light into the rear door insert, maybe something like some hidden LED's...? Other thought is to just go with the 'rear tire relocation / removal kit. It includes the chrome tow loops and a SS plate holder that mounts off to the right hand side of the right tow loop. Other than this I suppose I could just get a previous year rear door plate holder with the light in it.

Anyone done this yet, or have any other ideas?

Nice and hope you enjoy it. BTW is the 75hp increase noticable on the highway or when changing lanes or offramps?
