Need help

Driving home from the holidays, my h3 felt like it went into neutral. I can lock 4 high an 4 low an move but it's just the rear tires. I have not heard any popping or weird noises. Where should I start. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like a T Case problem.

Always include year, model (Base/Adventure/Lux/Lux Off Road) and mileage with a question. Model is important as different T Cases and TCCMs were used.

With the H3 being full time 4wd if anything in the front drivetrain is broken the transfercase will not move the vehicle in 4HI because it tries to send all of the power to the output of the transfercase with the least resistance.

With your vehicle in 4HI lock or 4LOW lock the transfer case will split the power 50/50 to both front and rear outputs regardless of any issue front or rear.

Check both of your front 1/2 shafts, front differential, the front prop shaft (drive shaft) and the transfercase. One or more of these items has to do with your issue.

I will check that seems to be the lesser of the two. Thank you.
