Hellooooooo ... anyone
|
alpine is a great option for both amp an speakers. and I had to use kenwood for the 2 in very back.. just know in advance when you do this you lose turn signal chime , door chime
and on star. none of these 3 is a great loss. you lose this because you dont use the bose amp once you replace them |

After install the kenwood HU there was a noise on speakers coming from the bose Amp. Then replace Bose amp for a cheap brand amp and the sound turn out to be pessimal. Then spend more $ on this pioneer amp/spk which should be enough for my needs (hopefully) I lost the chimes after installing the first Stereo .. I told the guy to not connect the chimes which I dont like .. I would paid to lose Onstar ( Next project to remove it and replace with anything else ) Which Kenwood speakers would you recommend for the back .. May keep the Oe tweeters with the Pioneer system or need to replace it ? Will install on Saturday . I will post reviews on Monday |
4 Attachment(s)
Ending replacing the speakers and Amp . Took me 1 day to do all .
run speakers wires from OM amp under center console to the rear seat for new amp 4 way pioneer speakers 60 watts Rms pioneer amp 100x4 @4ohm Rms sounds much better than Oem system Bass is decent , do not expect a sub sound from a 6.5 speeker but it is more than ok . sound quality is great and it can gets a lot of louder than Oe btw the front Oem speakers are 6.5 , rear are smaller but you can use 6.5 all around without mod . So far Im very happy with the system perform , I dont need to compete or play music for the neighborhood , just quality sound while drive and this system gets me there for less than $250 Last photo is the POS amp that was installed by a car audio shop Attachment 8011 Attachment 8012 Attachment 8013 Attachment 8014 |
If I were going to replace my OEM speakers in my Deuce would definitely go with Infinity Kapa series they sound aammaazzinngg ! I had them in my H3 and you hear parts of a song you never heard before. ;)

The pioneer were enough for what I need @ much lower price, are very loud without distortion ... I will said Im 90% happy with the way they perform . Could use a little more highs , next step get a compact Sub with amp built in and the 2 speaker for the back pillars . I would like to try the Infinity K on the rear door , May get a pair in a while after buying the Sub . |
Hey Miami, Are you powering all the speakers from before ? I currently have the bose premium package, (i have a center speaker) 2 way component in the front, i think just single midrange in rear doors, and a couple of speakers in the back. I'm thinking of going aftermarket. You said you could go 6.5s all the way round ? Do you remember the size of the tweeters by chance ?
Am leaning for Hertz MPK165.3 but wondering if the tweeters will fit behind existing grills. thx |

Am leaning for Hertz MPK165.3 but wondering if the tweeters will fit behind existing grills. thx Id didn't want to change the grill If you find the right one let me know . I will be switching to Kapas , will be a good idea to replace those and the smalls on the front pillars |
You think they're tweeters in the back ? I was trying to tell the guys in the custom install place that I wanted to keep them as part of the equation, but they were of the impression they should be abandoned so as to not mess about with the balance. I know they want me to abandon my center speaker, leaving me with 2 tweeters up front and 4 midrange (doors), but am tempted to go for a JBL m8 DPS which could give me 5.1 sound again, so when i eventually get KODI/XMBC running in the car, it can be 5.1 for everyone.
Can I check, do you have the sizes of the tweeters you bought from amazon ? So as to change my plans if the tweeters i'm looking at are too big. |
I got a pair of these
Polk Audio DB401 4-Inch Pair Coaxial Speakers Amazon showed as directly fit for hummer however no way you can put these back there without drilling and mod the grill I kept the oem tweets on front and those on back but i wasn't looking for a killer sound just a little improvement The main reason I replaced the speakers and amp didnt match the headunit making a static noise . The oem amp didn't have any adjustments I don't have the center speaker which I think is a Sub . I think you should try to match the same as the Oem but I wouldn't be so worry about the tweeters. Most high quality speakers will perform so good you won't be able to notice those on pillars Let me know what you get I'm not 100% happy with my speakers choice . Will replaced soon |
Got it thanks for the advice. I'm leaning for Hertz MPK 165.3 in each door, a Hertz HX250D 10" sub. I will leave the bose subwoofer under the center console as too much grief to remove it, but I also have a center speaker at the top front of the dash, this isn't a sub, i'm torn on this, but i think it's probably better just disconnected. I do want to leave everything standard. I did see this -
GM 5863078 15186672 Rear Trim w/ Bose Speaker | eBay So i see the speaker is a 50mm in the rear trim. I believe the tweeter I'm looking at is 25mm, so am hoping it would be small enough to fit in behind it. I have seen the work these guys do with regards to fabrication and blending, so whatever the result, if i go for it, it will look tasteful and semi oem anyway. If there was any way in the world, i could just get a decent line out of this damn Y91 radio, i'd just add an amp + sub myself! |
I didnt know there was a model with a center speaker under dash
Either way I agree with the shop and get that one disconnected. With high quality speakers and amp you won't notice the difference . How u planning to imstall the Sub? I fid all the job myself . Was fairly easy . Only regret I wish I had spend a little more to get better quality The speakers (Sony) are ok for a corolla but not what I was looking for . The headunit ( kenwood) Gps fail after 1 year . It freeze The Amp ( pioneer) is very good for the price . Maybe will be better after replacing the speakers Now I got to replace the unit and speakers very soon again Please keep update how it came out . Im very interested in the Hertz speakers and what you found for the rear and pillar tweeters |
Well i have hertz on my 4 doors i think the previews owner had the front twetters replaced too . with time i had seen a increase on vibration/rattle coming from the rear doors first an now front the front ones too . i cant tell how old this Hertz are but im looking to replace everything including the radio . my only problem that i see so far is that the last person to work on this truck glued the driver side door panel so i have no idea how the hell im gona deal with that ...
|
If they've gone to the trouble of replacing the speakers etc, maybe they've got some kind of sound deadening in between the door card and the interior skin thats making it tough to pry off ?! Can't imagine someone would glue a panel on, i mean what if the door switch needed replacing or window motor etc....
If you do get the card off and have a look, i'd be interested in seeing/hearing if the guy put any sound deadening material on the door skins. I'm being quoted for the overall sound install, and the shop want to sound deaden the whole cab (i.e. interior out). I did ask around to see if anyone else had ever had this done and is it overkill ? i am not trying to break any records, i just want to listen to quality music, in a quiet environment! |

Hummer H2 door panel removal |
, i just want to listen to quality music, in a quiet environment!"
If you get that in a Hummer I will be interesting in doing the same Not for the music quality but to get rid of the amount of noise in the cabin Something Ive been complaining for a long time Ive been checking the Hertz but out of my current budget Where and how much u found it |
Before you attempt to remove the door panel . Buy a few of the clips
Most possible you will need to replace a few |

Now that my 2 is garaged I'm going to start ripping in to some things like the doors to finally install the billet door buckets I've had sitting in my garage for years.
Replace the speakers while I'm at it and maybe throw some Dynamat on the door panels to see if it reduces rattling. |
I'm just ironing out the final details with the installer. The interior is totally coming out (save the dash).
see here for what they can do- i'm only getting the subwoofer built into the back, but the quality of there work is very good. ????????? ????? Hummer H2 I'm also going to get them to run a few relays in the cabin to the overhead light switches for future light bars etc. Makes sense to do it all now whilst it will be empty. I will be covering the whole of the interior with sound proof (dynamat type stuff) and then a layer of felt/material, and then some MLV in some places... |
Also - some other reference points if anyone ever wondered what the H2 looks like naked:

One more here for interiors. I like the storage they built under the middle row seats. |
baldfox i wish i could find a place here in the states that can do the same to my H2 . thats looks like some quality work verywell done ...
|
I've not had it done yet, and i am only after the sound deadening and audio upgrade (NOT to make it look like a competiton vehicle with some ridiculous wall of subs or anything like that- it all has to be stealth, and leave me with a full trunk to use!).
The general quality of the tuning interiors that they do over here is really high. Modifications are very common. I would never have thought about some of the mods they've done. In the one above, they used BMW 6-series seats in the front, and landrover seats in the rear (funky storage underneath and the flip mechanism pretty cool). Happy to keep posting links to give people inspiration. |
Man that is cool. I wish I could afford to do something like that.
