Nav disc for 2005 H2

Hey there,

Can anyone help? Nav disc has gone bad. Getting error reading message. Indicated disc was damaged or dirty. Cleaned it and it worked for about 3 mins. And quit again. Hasn't worked since. Anyone know which disc update work for the 05 H2. Have searched ebay and haven't found any that say they are compatible for use in 05. The GM navigation disc center is difficult at best and expensive. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Jim

Use a cd cleaner on your radio unit.

Not familiar. Where would I find a cd cleaner? Thanks.

Its a disk that has a little brush that cleans the laser head inside of the cd reader/stereo. You can buy them at best buy. I think it is called a cd lens cleaner, or something like that.

Thanks. I have got to get to best buy for a couple things in the next few days. I will look for it. Oddly enough I had the disc out and in the house a few days. Put it back in and it worked. Did not try to put in address. This is where it seems to fail however was reading the local streets as I drove down the road. Thanks again.

A trick i've used in the past is to spray the data disc / DVD with furniture polish and then buff it up so it's as clean / reflective as possible, and then stick it into a pc and rip it. If you're lucky (finger's crossed) you might be able to get a clean rip of the disc. You can then use any number of utilities out there, to rip a new disc with the data. Worth a try... sometimes pc drives can be more forgiving than consumer electronics.
