Hi again guys n gals. Sorry about my Happy 4th of Julyoff HUMMER topic post before, just wanted to say hello and happy 4th. I do have a problem with my HUMMER now. My HUMMER farts. I assure you this is real. I back out of my driveway put in drive and within 10-20 seconds you can hear it. Sounds exactly like a fart, like a bout 4-5 seconds long. You hear PHHhhhhPPPhhHHH, exactly like a fart. When I pull out of my road theres a water gutter, you kind of dip down a little while your turning left. I have heardit onthe flat surface before. I used to hear this sound like air pressure being released. It only happenes when I first started to drive it like 10-30 seconds after pulling off. Im thinking could it be a shock or is there some kind of leveling system or air conditioner? I don't know much about cars. I always assumed it was something normal. But now it farts.... 3 of my friends heard it today and laughed their azz off. Anyone have an idea what this might be. I'll record it on my digital voice recorder on way to Docs tomarrow. One of my Land Rovers makes this air rpessure noise. Can't have my HUMMER fartin...I searched for similar problem couldnt come up with anything. ThanX

Never heard of the problem. Sound like exhaust or does it come from the engine dept?

 

Any performance issues?..It maybe a plugged Catalytic Converter...

I just replaced a missing nut on the exaust heat shield and I guess the sound it made could have been considered a "fart". I noticed a strange sound when I would first start it in the morning when pulling out of the driveway. After that I couldn't hear it after it got warmed up. Then, I'm guessing the heat shield got even more loose and it started making the sound all the time at 1800-1900 rpm. Replaced the missing nut and all is well.

Check and see if your "nuts are tight" to help your "farting".

 

We haven't noticed a farting issue at all. Maybe it's because ours just has a case of SBD's!

 

This farting noise is comming from the front end.It sometimes sounds almost like a hydrolic door, like on a hatchback. I couldnt get my H3 to fart today but now it has the runs. I was driving in a big rain storm today and water just started dripping out of my OnStar microphone. I opened the sunroof cover, sure enough water was dripping constantly along the edges. GREAT
