How necessary are they? I just put 33s, dirt grappler tires on. Will I get a lot of rain/dirt splash?

Yes, you will. Even with the Mud Flaps you'll get quite a bit, but it doesn't go as high on the doors. Keeps it out of the door handles, which is nice.

I have a set of Husky mud flaps because I drive regularly on seriously muddy logging roads. They do hold down some of the mud splash but at the cost of getting in the way (and probably get ripped off the vehicle) if you are doing some serious offroading, especially rock crawling.
