MTs or ATs .. what's the diff?
 

I'm getting close to getting new tires for my truck and was wondering what the differences between a set of MTs and ATs are. I don't really want to announce myself to the neighborhood too early (road noise) and I do use my truck mostly as a daily driver with hopes of getting dirty occasionally without getting stuck in the muck. Thoughts, opinions and recommendations are appreciated.

Mud terrain vs. All terrain. MT- more aggresive tread pattern could yield more road noise.

True, but the MTs give you more bite offroad.

yeah like mark said, MT= more noise, and like Tackleberry said MT= more bite off road, but some MT can be quieter than others. wider Lug Pattern, more noise and bite.

Also typically the MT will not give you as many miles of tread life - particularly if most of the miles are on-road.

MTs just look cool.
