Monsoon Stereo Help

I am a new H3 owner, bought it on December 3rd so if this has been talked about before please excuse me! I am wanting to upgrade the subwoofer, I have found out it is an 8" sub. I dont want to change out the amp if I can keep from it so that JL Audio box isnt of any interest to me. Have any of you replaced JUST the sub and if so, did you go with a 2Ohm sub, shallow mount, etc....

Thanks in advance for any help related to getting a little better sound out of my new toy!

It looks as if nobody knows the answer to this riddle. I too would like to replace mine, due to it is starting to sound a little weak..

I can tell you it is a dual voice coil 8" sub and you will need to find an 8" that is made to fit inside the H3 specific size enclosure. Not sure of the impedence of each voice coil ( I think dual8 ohm) or if the Monsoon amp will even be stable @ a 2 Ohm load.

The OEM subwoofer for the H3 monsoon system is a dual 8 ohm voice coil sub. Did some testing just for general amusement with the monsoon amp and its not even close to stable at 2. Immediately started clipping and shut down. My best guess from testing is that sub out caps out under 100 watts even with a factory speaker

I had no intention of leaving the amp or the OEM sub in the H3 as it was crapola from the day we got it.

1000 watt Pioneer mono block amp and a Pioneer shallow mount 8 inch sub worked just fine.

Ripped out the factory head unit too replaced with AV-Z130BT :D happy times

I stretched and capped RCA's for a 4 channel to go in when I get free time to do it, but its the wife's H3...next work to be done will be on my H2 it needs more PIAA lights on the gobi rack and brush guard

you can replace with a SVC 4ohm woofer, dual 8ohm bridged down at the amp pulls a 4ohm load.
