This box is what the tube replaces. You use the hoses and clamps.

I remember that old thread! In fact, I finally got around to doing that myself this week. I took it a little bit farther along though and did the install that BrickWurx ( https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/s...ld+intake+tube ) posted last year and took the restrictive coupler tube out of the airbox/fender. I already had a K&N but it still felt weak on the hwy and was constantly downshifting to maintain 70 on cruise control. On my quick hwy run afterward to check things out I noticed it had more power on the hwy where I needed it and only downshifted once on a grade with heavy side wind. I meticulously log my mileage and consistently get hwy mileage in the mid 17's before this and after this weekend I will have some new mileage figures with the mod. I believe the claim that it's an extra 15HP & 20 Lb/Ft for (almost) free!

Made my own intake tube

Ya i took a trip down hy 9 which is nothing but hills. My h3 would down shift every hill, but now it has to be a big hill befor it down shifts. I was geting 16-16.5 now 18-18.5 mpgs. I have a 06 i just took the top of my intake box off. I just got a cherry bomb turbo muffler so im going to see how it works out and sounds. So where most have $500 wraped up in intake and exaust i have $40 $5 spectra air filter(same as k&n) $15 on intake and $20 on muffler but well see after this weekend how the muffler turns out

The next step you should try is to gut the first catalytic converter for a 10+ HP gain across the board.

Does that set off any warning lights?
