ok.... right after i cold start my truck (3.7 i5) i get this low growling noise coming from the right front of truck kinda around the fan area. it starts right after i put it in gear to back out of the garage, but if i put it back in park it goes away but if i go ahead and continue uninterupted backing out it lasts about 15-30 seconds unlike the typical timing chain rattle that mine does also! i took it in to the dealership they did verify it one cold morning so they said that the trailblazers did it also that the fan clutch was noisy and replaced the entire fan assembly, the next cold start it did the same thing and continues to this day. i checked all the bolts on the manifold shield and anything else i found on these forums but it still continues. any help!

 

I had the fan clutch replaced and it growled just about always. Went vacj and had it replaced with another one again. Now it is doing what it is supposed to do.

 

hey, sweet i finally found someone with the same issue, were the symptoms the same? did it go away after 15-30 seconds? also is there a revised part number? i just want to be sure because i'm already 1k over my warranty and the dealership put the miles in the computer as 48k to help me out so i'm just afraid it might be something in the motor.

 

Sounds normal to me.. Mine roars for a few seconds then stops. Reminds me of the old s10 fan setup and sounds.
