Hello fellow H3ers

I was washing the Hummer today and found that the drivers side mirror is loose from the base. Any idea how to tighten it up? How to remove plastic cover over bolts?

There are 4 bolts on the inside of the door.
Remove the door panel and tighten the 4 bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

 

MUTAINT, I think he is talking about at the pivot point and not were it mounts to the door. Mine cracked at the pivot point and there was a ton of play (the mirror would flop around). I had it replaced under warranty, they tried to blame it on impacted but they ended up covering it.

Yes Sir you are right. This is at the pivot point from the base that connects the base to the mirror arm.

 

There is no way to tighten. This was a problem with many of the H3 mirrors. You didn't say what year you have, so I don't know if you're still under the Bumper to Bumper warranty, but the dealership replaced both of mine, (no charge), for the same thing. Tell them when you drive, they vibrate and distort your vision.
