Looking to buy an H2, please Help!
Hello, I am new to the community, but have been a lifelong Hummer fan! I am looking to purchase an H2, but am unsure what model is "best". What is everyone's opinion of pros/cons of the 2003-2007 w/6.0 V8 or the 2008-2009 w/6.2 engine? Also, I've noticed in the 2003 models that I've test drove that they had a different center console than the 2007 models that I've driven, are there any other differences? I know the 2008-2009 have a totally different interior, but I actually prefer the older style, it seems more like a Hummer.
Any advice as to what year/model is the "best" would be greatly appreciated. If it helps, I'm looking at H2's with 85,000 miles or less and under $27,000. |
I do agree with you, the first model interior looks much better than the 08/09 where they went too escalade look. But less squeaks which is a plus.
I believe late 05 they started making slight changes to the interior and some other random things for the rest of the original lineup. A good number of quirks were fixed during this time so most will look for 06 and up H2's. Not all though, you can get an older 2 with little to no issues. Drivetrain wise, I couldn't see the 6.2 being any huge advantage over the 6.0, both are strong as hell engines. Couple extra gears in the 08/09 where the older ones you get the old school 4 speed. It really is your decision and most of it boils down to how much you are willing to pay. You could pay a good chunk of money and get a low mileage garage kept 03 with probably nothing wrong with it or a higher mileage H2 for cheaper but who knows how many owners it had and what problems it currently has. Keep in mine though, at the youngest these things are 9 years old so they are going to have their issues as any 9 year and older vehicle will so plan on putting some money to keep her up and running. |
Thanks for the reply LoJac, lots of good information. The Hummer would not be my daily driver, as I get a new truck each year for that. Probably should have mentioned that in the original post, it would mainly be a weekend toy and backup vehicle.

Oh in that case I would not worry so much about the issues then since you can easily fix them and not worry about it being your DD. I had a lot of stuff I finally got to fixing on mine once she was paid off and a garage queen/weekend offroader. I feel like mine is much more enjoyable since not being a DD lol.
