Last detail before winter

WE had a great day here in NH today! I washed up the Hummer and gave her a last detail before the cold weather comes in.

Show off!! [sm=smiley16.gif]Looks real nice! Is that your work truck in the reflection?
Ever consider putting a brush guard on your H2?

wow, it does look nice. and you could use a chrome brush guard for it. and it just so happens that i know where you can get one in good shape, cheaper than from the dealer (not sure about shipping though). i notice you even got the undercarriage clean, do you use something special under there, or get under and wipe it down?

looks like you already have some chrome surrounds for the side lights but could use some for the door handles. i happen to know where to find those too. couldn't see the back, do you have chrome louvre covers? just so happens that i know a guy . . . . .

Efrain, yes that is a reflection of my work truck. I have thought of a brush gaurd but not sure if I want one or not. I like the look with out one too.

Shortbus, Geez, you know alot of guys with alot of stuff!;)
I always clean my wheel wells out with a long handle brush and use Eagle1 A to Z tire and wheel cleaner, works great. Detailing is a hobby of mine. I enjpy washing, cleaning and polishing. I Frequent a great detailing website forum called Autopia http://autopia.org/
If your into car detailing or just need some waxing or polishing info check it out! Good site!

thanks for the heads up, it would be nice to have a picture of the bus clean for a change, not just on the yellow parts. at least i don't have chrome to polish . . .

Polishing chrome is no big deal just like polishing the paint. Thanks for the heads up on those parts. I think I'm all set for a while. I like alittle bit of chrome. Some of those H2s with all the chrome extras doesn't look good to me, too much Bling for me!!!

RE: Last detail before winter

I agree with you on that. A little bit of chrome is okay, but not too much chrome.:)

RE: Last detail before winter

shortbus, you have that much stuff from your ride laying around??

shortbus 11-16-2005 07:20 PM

RE: Last detail before winter

yup. hood lift handles, small, lower gill insert, brush guard, hood straps, side light surrounds, door handle surrounds & rear vent louvres. (still need to remove the rear market surrounds and handle surrounds, but got a long weekend coming up) also got some cheesy stock tie rod ends too, but usually carry them with me on our runs, in case someone breaks one.

Let us know how the Borla came out and how it sounds.!!

RE: Last detail before winter

it would be nice if we could post sounds here (maybe we can and i just haven't been wearing my helmet enough). i've got the magnaflow exhaust, and personally think it's too quiet. wife said no on the flowmaster, she thought my 4runner was too loud. thought about gutting the muffler and just putting a straight pipe through it. would the lack of back pressure cause any problems?

RE: Last detail before winter

Wouldn't you have problems with the law?
Anyway, when I brought my H2 home, my kid thought it was a diesel by the way that it sounded with the stock muffler. It's pretty rumbly already as it is.:)

RE: Last detail before winter

Shortbus, why don't you go to www.putfile.com and upload your video or sound file there, then give us the url here and we can go there and listen to it.

shortbus 11-17-2005 07:06 PM

RE: Last detail before winter

i don't have a file, just wanted to hear what the borla sounded like. i'm to slow to comprehend how to get the audio off a video anyway. i've had enough problems posting pics here, don't wanna try anything else. as for the law, all i can figure is if i didn't pass smog in some way, it's the only inspection CA has.

RE: Last detail before winter

Shortbus, it's easy, just take out your laptop next to your H2, use the built in program to activate the built-in microphone and record the sound to a file. Upload that file at www.putfile.com and voila!:D
