Issue I need some help with

So I have a 07' H3, so far she's been a peach....until recently. I have 167k on the ole girl. She started, what I thought was a shift slip or slip period about a week ago. It will shift from 4th to 5th, between those 2 she'll kinda hesitate. Once on top gear, any kind of accelerator applied to it causes it to buck, kick, slip and won't stop acting up until you push down far enough for it to downshift. Top gear is the only one it does it in. I have a check engine light on so I ran it, it came back to the camshaft sensor on the exhaust side. So my question is, can that little sensor cause all this or are there other issues I need to be worried about?

4th to 5th? Is it a 5 speed manual transmission?

4th to 5th

Nope, she's an auto

You have a 2007, the engine management AND transmission are both controlled by the PCM (2008+ began using a Transmission Control Module).
The shift from 3-4 is actually from 3rd gear to full torque converter lock up.

To answer your question.... a bad camshaft sensor is not going to cause a transmission problem. However, if you engine torque is not responding as anticipated (like it should) the PCM may create conditions that will sort of mimic a transmission issue, like trying to hold full lock up thinking the engine should be able to muscle through a change in accelerator position, incline in the road, not need a downshift, etc....

So any ide a why it might throw a cam shaft sensor code? Any way to tell if it's the pcm?

Because you have a cam shaft sensor that is bad (inconsistent voltage), or the wiring to it is not getting a proper connection (dirty/wet), or the screens for the Camshaft Actuator Solenoid are dirty and filled with crud, or have disintegrated and missing.

What was the code? P0014, P0017 or P0106... or a different one?

Search it out.

Start with the obvious, pull and inspect the cps, replace if you see any screens missing, and change the oil. GL

Hummer h3 now in serious trouble

Ok, so after the other problems have been wreaking havoc on this machine I now have officially found myself stranded. Yesterday I did a reset a GM tech told me about where you turn the key on, hold the gas peddle, turn the key off and release gas peddle, wait 2 min, start the vehicle and drive. Well I did it, started the vehicle and the dang thing would barely run. After running for 20 seconds it dies. It'll start again but dies. I've cleaned the cam sensors, cleaned the vvt and screens are clear and in place. Any idea now?
