Have somebody cut you some flat black vinyl or magnetic sheet if that is what you want, then you can see if you like it in person. The magnetic material is thick enough you would not have to fill those slots. Then have it painted if you just have to go that way. I would think it would take some work to fill those slots. I don't think Bondo will stay in them. So then you are looking at welding metal under them and filling. Tht could ruin the paint around that area not to be covered. It would take some work to look right.
I cut magnetic material for mine, but I only use that for night runs. The OEM roof lights really glare on Birch White!

I drove it without the louver and it looks really weird like something is missing, and the hood just drops off.

One of the clips broke on my hood louver when it was under warranty. They replaced it with a new one. I went to the cadillac dealer 6 months later for service on another issue. Was informed there is a recall on the hood louver. I expressed my concerns with the service guy that I just had it replaced I dont really want to mess with it. I look through the service window to see the tech with a caulk gun then bang on my hood louver with a rubber mallet. When I got home I checked under the hood to see what they did. sure enough broken clip. The hood louver sits up off the hood maybe 1/4" on the top driver side and maybe 1/2" while on the highway. really bothers me. If i would of known the recall was GLUE THIS ON I would of said please no. now what do I do? waaa

I don't care what you do to contrast the hood.
The louver is an iconic part of all Hummers. It "needs" to be there.

I had one at my house at the end of April and his came off.... it looked different.... but kinda grew on me....

I agree with John it "belongs" there.... but I'd like to see what more people do with them if they take them off.

I had my louver recall done right after I purchased the Hummer....Did not know that they glued that to the truck...I just got the Putco chrome Louver for a gift. Is there any way to install this

Sure. They installed mine after the recall fix. Looks great too. A lot better than just clips. The winters here broke clips all the time. I'm glad for the recall.

Right up until it has to come off someday, maybe due to sun damage or it just cracks for whatever reason and they have to rip it off, in pieces, taking your paint with it.

How do you know it rips the paint off with it? Have you seen this or have any pictures?
