Default Hummer Club Section

LisaM posted a suggestion in the Question and suggestion area about a subsection for Hummer Clubs. This has probably been discussed but I didn't come up with it in my search. Has this been discussed and what is the boards position on this?

Patrick wanted me to start this section a month or two ago, but we've both been really busy so we haven't really figured out exactly how it's going to work. That's one of the reasons I'm still here. I may not be on much these days but I'd still at least like to get it started and if I start getting to the point where I don't think I'll be here too much, I can just pass the torch to somebody else. I'll talk to him today and see what we come up with.

i don't see the benefit - i've seen it on hummer boards before and it's never been much of a success. that's my input, do with it what you will . . . .

Well if people think it's a waste of time judging from past attempts in other forums, then it's a waste of time here as well. I'm not going to bother if it's going to bomb. Patrick mentioned it to me as I said but we always end up talking about things that have nothing to do with the forum and get a bit sidetracked.

i haven't been to the HML in quite a while (too many H2 haters), but the regional sections there died pretty quickly - at least the CA and NV ones did. maybe a NJ section here would work, seems we've got a lot of dorks, i mean members, from there . . . . . but don't kill it just on my comments, let the others have some input. i may think i know it all, but some times, rare times, i don't . . . .

Well you aren't the first person to say that. I don't remember exactly who but there were a couple of others that had the same feedback.

I love H2s. I only go to HML for the H1 section. Couldn't tell you if they even had a club or regional section. I know the THCI forum has very little activity. I've been on HummerX a few times and seems ok. H1 Psycho Squad has a pretty good website but there are only about 30 members. I have no idea if it would work or not. I just noticed that someone had asked about it. I don't think it is a bad idea just don't know if it will work.
So far the sports section has bombed, maybe too far from Hummers to attract much interest here.

I think it's going to be allot of work for the mods, what's most probably going to happen is, it's going to get out of hand, club members are going to think it's there little section to do as they please. There's a thread some ware in the useless post about a club thing that got ugly.

Maybe if we do a section with a listing and contact info: for each club, then people who are interested in joining a club in there area, wellthen they just contact thatperson with a PM.

I have my own Hummer club here in Montreal, and when I see some one is from the area I send them a PM to see if there interested in going off road with us.

It would make it easier for members to find a club in there area.

Just a suggestion.

i tried to get patrick, or maybe it was denise,to add a club list ot the site, and provided a list of clubs that i stole from the HML, with club contact info for those that provided it. i never pushed and it obviously got lost in all the other stuff going on at the time. it would be nice to have that as a resource, then it wouldn't have to involve us in policing it to keep it civil.

That's a good idea. Provide the resource but not in a way we have to manage.
