I am the same way. I try and fill mine once it is below 1/2 and if it gets to 1/4 my wife starts freaking out so I have never seen my light come on.

 

My dad always told me to never let it get below a 1/4 tank. I just look at 1/4 as E

 

I have an 08 Alpha, I usually wait till the light comes on to fill up. I get roughly 300-320 miles before that happens. I have also been lighter on the go pedal recently to try and get the gas to stretch further and so far so good. The best tank that I have had is 360 and that was at 75mph on a road trip.

 

I sometimes wait until the low fuel light comes on, lately that happens about 335-340 miles. I have gone 360 miles without filling up but the most i have ever put in the tank was 21.5 gallons, i know it says 23 gallons, i somehow dont beleive it, i put 21.5 after driving 40 miles after the light came on once. would never risk finding out though. with fuel injection running out of gas can be bad.

 

Not to mention picking up dirty gas/sediment from the bottom of the tank. not worth the risk.

My H3 has a low fuel light? I never plan on finding out if it works.

 

wait a minute youre getting 385 miles to a tank outta your h3? I have an o8 with a 22 gal tank and I am lucky to 315 the fuel light comes on at like 280. I just dont understand how all you guys such better mpg than me I really dont.

 

Worth saying again. Running your tank to empty really can damage your fuel pump. Fuel is used to cool and lube the pump.
