OK...Low fuel light goes on at 315 miles to the tank.....I drove it until it hit 385 then I couldn't stand it, freakin out on the freeway waiting and waiting to run out....so.....I stopped filled it up and still had 2 gallons left.....just messing around to see how far I could go! Yes very entertaining I am....

Has anyone gotten a true tank mileage running out of gas? Just curious !

Can't say that I've ever seen mine on.

 

Typically on American cars the Fuel light comes on and you can drive another 50 miles for a fill up. I never plan to test the theory!! When the light comes on I start looking at gas prices and fill up. Some people love to see Hummers along the road and drivers with gas cans in their hands.

 

I'll put it this way. Typically, when it comes on I put in about 19 gallons. That means I have 4.5 left. At 14 mpg I should be able to go about 56 miles.

I was comfortable pushing my Jetta 1/4 mile to get it to a gas station when I was seeing how far I could go (399 miles on mostly city driving, 13ish gallons, 1995); I'm not going to try that with my H3. Plus an H3 running out of gas would just delight too many of those Prius owners.

 

it's all fun and games until you burn your fuel pump out.....

like I said in another thread.... my low fuel light might not even work for all I know... I don't think I have ever seen it on...

 

I was just playing around to see how far I could go.....then after 70 miles...I stopped but then had 2 gallons left...!
I can easily amuse myself ! LOL

 

Hey guys ....as a matter of fact I did test this theory!!!!!!!!!!! Came on about 315 miles....lot of 50/50 highway /city 2006 h3 with adventure package........ran out of fuel at about 380 miles[:@]...good thing I had the gas can...I think it is going to depend on how your putting miles on .....
