Horn Problems
 

Hi All,
I just tried installing a Wolo 419 to my 08 H3 and when I would press the horn button the horn would run slow and not make very much noise and then it stopped working alltogether. I reveresed the wires and it changed nothing. I reconnected my factory horn and now it doesn't work.
I checked the horn fuse and the relay and both are fine. Does anyone have any idea what I screwed up? I hated the factory horn but now I have nothing.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

First ? Did you hook up the relay that came with the horn kit or just run thru stock relay? 2. if kit relay was used did you take it out of line before trying stock horn? just curious as i am fixing to put a 418 on my 07 H3

I used the factory relay. I basically just cut the wiring harness off and put some spade connectors on the wires and hooked it to the wolo. I read this in previous posts.

I had the same problem with the relay (I used the one they provided, and it didn't work) when I first installed it. I then tried connecting directly to the original leads, and it worked fine. The fuse blew out a couple weeks later, and I replaced with a 15 and haven't had a problem since. I'll probally get sh!t for doing that but the guy at auto zone said it was cool, so there you go.

I still can't figure out why my original horn won't work. Could I have burnt out the horn switch at the steering wheel. The wires at the horn don't look burnt.????

Check to see if your getting power at the horn. If no, then replace the fuse (#35 or #36 check your manual) anyway. That should do the trick. If that doesn't work take the horn back and try a new one, as the horn may be bad.

I am not getting any power at the horn. I checked the fuses and relay and they are all good. The horn works when I hook it up to an external power source.
Anyone have any ideas?

Call me an idiot. I was checking the wrong fuse. It was the 10 amp fuse. Now I'm going to attampt to install it the right way with a relay.

I finally got the Wolo 519 hooked up. I installed it along with my factory horn. Whn you lock your doors the Wolo does not sound so I kept the factory horn for that. I ended up using the relay that Wolo supplied but I didn't follow their car instructions. The motorcycle instructions worked. The only difference is that you hook the pos and neg from the factory horn to the Wolo relay.
It sounds great!!! I'm sure it isn't as loud as some of the air horns other people have installed on this forum but it was well worth the $60.00.
I'm tired of getting cut off by these biatches on the expressways here in Chicago. Last Friday I got cut off by this Biatch in a BMW TWICE!! She almost caused a major accident on the Dan Ryan. Next time I'll blow her doors off.
Anyone need any advice on the install let me know.

Yeah, I installed it on Saturday. First I connected it wrong so the braker blew. I replaced it with another 10amp but it blew again. Now I've put 15amp - so far so good ;)
