Hood Louver problem.

When I bought my H3 it already had a chrome hood louver with handles. It attaches with clips that go in the slots on the hood. All but 3 of the clips have broken off so I had to remove it. The only replacement louvers I have found online are ones that use 3m tape to stick to the stock plastic louver. I cant seem to find any that have the actual clips.

Is there any way to modify the one I have with broken clips to make it work? I thought about using 3m tape to stick it directly to my hood but there isnt much surface area where the louver and the hood meet. It looks kinda ugly with a open spot on my hood and the slots exposed.

Thru bolt it. Use some black button head bolts. Just watch where you put them so on the underside they are on a flat place instead of on the edge of a reinforcing brace.
If your handles are billet type it is possible to remove the studs and then use bolts from the underside to bolt all of it down.

Alot of the chrome one's come with clips but not sure you would want to use them....The tape idea literally sucks...doesn't work since the chrome overlay does not fit over the stock one perfectly. Get some 1 minute epoxy and problem is solved. Make sure you put some clear silicone around the sides when joined together to keep the rain, mud etc out of the two surfaces and you should be ok.

Just be sure that you fix it well!

My one came off at the car wash and only caused a slight scratch....just imagine this happens on the highway!?

Even they come costy...I ordered the aluminum one and bolted it down...now the complete hood needs to come off.

Mine came off in a car wash the week after I bought my H3. Luckily the factory recall had not been done yet. I was amazed when the dealer said they would just put a new one on and make it part of the recall. Didn't cost me a dime. But even though it is supposedly better now I am still afraid to go through car washes.

Bolt it down from inside the hood...permanent fix , but can be removed easily :)
That's what I've done to mine..chrome with handles..also cannot be stolen..
