High Mileage

Hey guys! I was wondering how many of you are over 100,000 miles and any problems you have encountered. Right now my 06 Lux Edition is at 58,000 miles and I plan on driving this thing into the ground. I do not do any off-roading and this is a commuter car. I've had it for about 18 months. Changed the oil every 5,000 miles, trans flush at 50,000 and also did a differential change at 50,000. I plan on replacing the head gasket since I hear all 06's had a problem (see other thread) and also changing out the plastic fork in the transfer case. Any of you guys had any problems around 100,000 miles?

Is anyone from the MD/VA area that can recommend someone to replace my plastic fork in the transfer case? I dont want to go to the dealership because of the high price but I want someone dependable. Thanks guys and I hope to be a regular here!!

you bought a h3 as a commuter car? lol. i would hate to see what kind of mpg your non commuter car gets lol. I have a 06 with 54k on it so i will be keeping a close eye on what response you get so i know too :)

hahaha I live in MD and after we got three blizzards two years ago I bought this. I also have a 09 Suzuki M50 motorcycle which I ride all the time. This truck does suck as a commuter car though!

I'm not over 100k but I am sitting at 89973 right now with no problems other than the radiator having to be rebuilt. Runs great. No problems at all.

Leave the head gasket alone. The gasket was not and never has been the problem with the 06 H3 head. I am not suggesting that nobody ever blew a head gasket, just that it has nothing to do with the 06 Atlas TSB etc....

My 07 is just at 50K, in the summer, other than wheeling, it pretty much gets to sit on the driveway and take it easy while I'm driving or riding somethin else.

If you are at 58,000 miles and you haven't had the head problem yet then you more than likely will not have the problem. Most of the problems showed up by 60,000 miles with a handful of two-time winners. The radiator has been cracking in the plastic top tank at the crimp and as a long horizontal crack in the middle. This hit the 06 and 07 models but I think it's related to usage (heat cycles) more than mileage and I bet next year starts showing more 08's with the problem too. You can spend the money and change out the plastic shift fork if it makes you feel better but I personally would leave it alone until it gives you trouble; especially if you never plan on going wheeling.

I'm at about 52k now and the only issue I've had is the radiator cracked on the plastic top and leaked. Dealer replaced it at 39k I believe.

i'm at about 98K. The only issues i've had are bad battery (happened at about 78K) and thermostat got stuck on open. engine was running super cool (about 25% on the gauge). Other than that, nothing. I'll be flushing the tranny on my next oil change.
