Hello from Iowa
First post here, and I Dont own a Hummer yet, but I am hoping to change that soon, looking at a H3 (the h3t is still out of my price range or id go that route) although I am seeing a couple h2's on craigslist recently for a really good price. Just not sure I can afford to drive one.
Anyway one of my favorite hobbies is working on trucks, My wife likes to help and I am near finishing my current one and she really likes the look of the military H1 and wants to fix up one of them next (I know, what a great wife) I did some searching around and it seems as though the military h1 is not available for civilian purchase, even an old beat up one seems impossible to find. Why is this? I thought they would be much more common now that they are being phased out by other vehicles. Looking forward to browsing the site and reading up on your vehicles.

Hi there, From what I understand once AM General entered the civilian market with the H1. They cut a deal with the goverment not to sell the older military ones, as they did not want us buying a cheap humvee and then fixing it up ourselves. I owned a humvee for 2 years the thing was awesome. Got mine off e-bay. Ever now and then you can still find them on e-bay but not often. Most of what you will find are ones that have already been upgraded. All I can say is keep your eye out they do pop up.
Military Humvees are availabale, you just have to know where to look. Try www.humvee.com
