I'm in the same situation with my 04. The rear seats work but the front don't. As soon as I press the button they shut off immediately. Sometimes they'll even come on by themselves (only the back gets hot) and then it'll shut off. Does the same thing for driver and passenger sides. I haven't tried fixing it yet because I've read the elements are sewn into the leather seats so it seems like a big job and pain in the *** to fix.

That I have no idea. I would almost think the sensor would be closer to the elements but I have never looked into it.

Default seat heaters

Hey nxsov180db
I know its been years since your post. I have the same exact issue. What was the final outcome at the dealer and did it correct the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I just fixed mine today. For me, the previous owner replaced the leather on the seat and didn't migrate the heating element. The first thing you need to do is look under your driver seat and see if anything is plugged into the green connector. If it is, you'll need to figure out which element is not working, seat or back. Also, does your passenger side work or do they both click off?
