Head lights

I am looking to get some after market headlights for my 07 H3. i am wanting some with the blue tint look to them. Does anyone have any advice? I have seen the kits on eBay but not sure which to get. Any advice would help thanks

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 08:29 AM

by blue tint i assume your refering to an HID kit. you can find a bunch of website that make them for the hummer. just becarful of what you buy. I bought a set of hids for mine a couple of years ago and after installing them only one of them would work on high beam. I emailed the company three times and never got a response. So i ended up throwing them in the trash and went back to the plain old halogen bulbs. but i have had good kits from other companys before....i had a good set on my 325 i ahd years ago. I dont remeber the website for any of these..sorry.
If its the blue color you want then get the ones that say '8000k' for the color . some of the surrounding levels go from yellow - purple- white. just depends on what brightness level you buy.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 08:56 AM

Yes HID is what I am looking for. Thanks for the response. Does anyone know of a good place to buy these lights. Some question for my Hummer peeps. Are these lights hard to install? Will they hurt my wiring harness? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And thanks again sneaky....

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 09:49 AM

yes very easy to install. its a plug n play system. it uses you existing wire harness and plugs into that. they install like a normal bulb. just google "hummer h3 hid" and you will find a bunch of sites.

I've bought all my sets from LEDs, off road lamps, HID Xenon conversion lighting kits and never had any problems. just make sure you get the hi/low kit or your hi beams will not work.

They're an easy instal, plugs into the factory harness plus a fused power cable to the battery to give power to allow the hi beams to work.

Fog lights are just plug and play, only you have to ake the grill off to get to them.

Thanks guys for the help with this. Is K8000 enough to get the cool blue tint or should I go K1000? And what watts should I go? As ya can tell I know nothing about this. LOL.... I do understand the high / low part.

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 11:40 AM

yes 8000k is gonna get you the cool blue color. I would go with the 35w system

Hummer72 05-17-2013 12:10 PM

Why 35w system?

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 01:01 PM

well its gonna draw less power then the 55w version, freeing up power for other things.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 01:01 PM

Ok done reading I now understand why I should use the 35W system. Now my question is this do I need any of these options?
HID Harness:
Error Cancelers:
Mounting Brackets:

staggs 05-17-2013 01:06 PM

the hi/low kit should Come with a harness.

do not need error cancelers

mounting is up to you. I have mine zip tied in the engine bay, it all depends on how you want to mount them.

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 01:07 PM

i dont know what the error cancelers are but the other two things should come with the kit already. you do need them, more the wire harness then the mounting kit. i didnt use the mount brackets on my ballast. i just let the set down on the little 'shelf' area by the headlights.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 02:15 PM

What is and what does the error canceler do??? Sounds important.

EvanMEllison 05-17-2013 02:37 PM

It cancels errors

When a HID kit is installed in newer car models or cars with a computer controlled unit, often there is an error code showing on the dash board or the HID lights keep flicking and would not stay on. This is due to the fact that the HID kit is triggering a bulb out warning signal in your car's computer control unit. By connecting a HID error canceller, the capacitor in the device balances out the current draw of the HID kit and would offset the warning signals.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 02:45 PM

Really hummm figured that much out. But is the HID lights gonna cause me to have errors?

Hummer72 05-17-2013 02:46 PM

Well do I need one???

why did you ask if you already knew what they were?

Simple solution for you:

1- buy your hid kit
2- install
3- test
a) no errors, no flickering; NO EC's needed
b) errors or flickering; EC's needed

simple plug and play if you need to install the error cancellers, connect one end to the HID bulb and another end to the ballast.

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 03:07 PM

none of my kits ever came with an error canceler and i've installed them on a lexus es300, a bmw 325, and a hummer h3. none of which ever threw a error code. i think youll be all set with out it.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 03:10 PM

That response was for Evan not anyone else. I really appreciate all the help with this. Keep talking I am listen...

Hummer72 05-17-2013 03:13 PM

Ok good deal. I am gonna order. Now on to next question what kit do I need for my running lights? I have found the one for headlights. Gonna order at same time not sure which to get for running lights?

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 03:44 PM

what ever web site you order from will probably have the option for the fog lights too. it will tell you what size bulbs they take.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 04:05 PM

Ordering from LEDs, off road lamps, HID Xenon conversion lighting kits .... Do I have to buy another kit or just bulbs for running/fog lights?

sneakypigeons 05-17-2013 04:48 PM

you have to buy another kit. every bulb requires a ballast that boost the watts up for the hid bulbs. they wont work without it.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 04:55 PM

Ok thanks now to find the other one.

Hummer72 05-17-2013 10:17 PM

Does anyone have a good site to order from. Just looking for buying options.

sneakypigeons 05-18-2013 08:13 AM

i dont remeber the sites i ordered from. just do a search and go with the one you like the most.

Hummer72 05-18-2013 09:40 AM

10-4 that's what I'll do. Thanks .... Can someone give me some tips when installing the HID lights?

sneakypigeons 05-18-2013 10:52 AM

there will be instruction in the kit. Its really straight foward.

staggs 05-18-2013 11:12 AM

also keep in mind that a lot of kits the plugs may be reversed. on my Cadillac cts the kit was like that so the plug just had to be plugged in 180 degrees than normal. this happens because most kits come from Asia.

Hummer72 05-18-2013 03:13 PM

Good Info here. With all this tips I feel a little better about doing this.
