I just purchased a 2006 Black H2 and would like to add a hard shell spare tire cover. The price I found at several places is around the $540 mark, plus shipping. Most charge another $35 or so for the chrome license plate holder.

Anyway, does anyone know of somewhere I can get a black hard shell spare tire cover for my 2006 H2 that costs less? Thanks much.

 

From what I've seen, thats about the going price. But those hard covers are terrible for offroading (just an fyi).

 

I have a real nice used soft H2 spare tire cover, it has Hummer H2 in reflective letters on it. I paid $100 and I will sell it for 1/2 price.

Hey, thanks for the quick responses. A picture of the one I have in mind, in black of course, is attached. I don't intend to do much (read any) offroading. I had an H3 that was totalled in a head-on collision and it probably saved my life. It did show, however, that I would have done better in an H2.

 

Do you already have a cover or rear license plate holder? Did your '06 come with a factory tire carrier? I would say around the 350 mark for a tire cover like the one your showing there at teakatoys and maybe more if you need a wire harness etc...

 

I could be totally wrong about this.. but I'm pretty certain the H3 crash tests have come off better than the H2. But I'm not positive.

Do you happen to have pics of the H3? I'm curious to see how it looked after the head-on.

 

How could you possibly have come to that conclusion without a single crash test rating on the H2? There haven't been any IIHS tests of the H2. The H3 does have issues that can cause severe leg injuries for the drivers right leg. The H3 ranks dead last in it's class BTW with acceptable for front and side and poor for rear impact. Those are facts and you can find them on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's website.

 

Ya I was on the IIHS and nhtsa and a few other online publications. The h3 did pretty good on side and frontal impacts. H2 info is pretty hard to find. I had been going off what I heard in regards to crash safety.

 

I bought a exterior hard cover from a guy on Craig's List. Paid very little for it.
