I have a 2010 H3T ALPHA and have the standard Hummer H3T side steps. I like the way they look and they are extremely functional as side steps. However, if you go hunting, camping, off roading, or basically anything outdoors, I would not recommend them. My braces have been bent several times and I've only had the truck for 5 months. Biggest weakness by far. can't keep the clearance with em. So if you are only driving on roads, they are great, look good too, but if you will ever be off road, I would recommend the foldable side steps.

Or just crank the tbars and ditch the nerfs.

But seriously. I would do that, and get rock sliders instead

I wouldn't crank the t bars. Adds a lot of stress on joints and bars as well as reduces suspension travel etc etc etc. Sure is tempting though because man it looks so freakin good! Haha

Do you know how many people on this forum and clubhummer crank their t-bars and have put 50,000+ miles with no issues? I cant count how many. It doest really reduce suspension travel, but if thats a concern pickup those $200 front shocks that add .5" of travel and call it even. And there isn't any more stress on the u-j's and cv's over stock unless you have 35" tires or greater; and even then, the amount of problems on cranked H3's with 35's isn't that high unless your beating the hell outta the truck.

yea that is all pretty true. I am just very wary of doing it because I have heard it functions with no problems, however my cousin owns an Off Roading company (invents products, modifies vehicles, etc, etc) and he told me "DO NOT touch them." Heck I even have a thread asking opinions on it. But yea, his reaction worries me because he definitely knows what he is talking about.

He might know what he's talking about with fords or chevies or whatever, but unless he KNOWS hummer's, he doesn't quite know what he's talking about. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cranking the tbars, unless you consider a free 2" lift bad.

Where is this thread you claim, asking questions on cranking the bars?

Yea that is definitely possible. Makes sense at least. He has driven chevy's and jeeps. Mostly a jeep guy now though. Gonna have a sick one at the SEMA show this year...

Here's my tbar thread..

Ya I'm a jackass I found the tbar thread. But MOST offroading shops dont know SH*T about HUMMER's, so I'd listen to the people on here and club hummer over an offroading shop for sure.
