H3 service stab system traction failure
Hey all. I have an 06 h3. The other day my detailer accidentally disconnected one of the factory installed DVD headrest monitors. He plugged it back in while the car was running.. Well as soon as he did that the DVD headrest stopped working. The DIC then displayed stab system traction failure and non of the buttons for the 4wd indicator and traction/stabilizer light up to indicate what mode it's in. Is there a fuse? I checked under the hood and all the fuses are ok. I think there is a short or blown fuse somewhere and not a mechanical problem. I tried cycling but nothing and it may be due to the 4wd not responding.... HELP!!! Thanks
I agree with broken halo, I would try unhooking the battery. I did this when all of my gauges when all the way to the right and stayed there. Very weird, but I unhooked the battery for the hell of it and that worked, hasn't happened since and that was last year.
I am having the same exact problem . New battery did not help , cleared code and its back . Any ideas . I have heard some say the encoder motor , others say the switch , or tccm. Somtimes when I turn the key but dont start the 4x4 light comes on . I will put it in nuetural and switch thru the 4x4 from hi to low to rear lock . No Problems . But when I start the truck , the lights are out and traction failed , service stab sys is on ? I would think that the encoder motor is switching fine , andthe switch in dash works good also when they do come on .
What code did you clear? I had traction failed/service stability and the accelerator assembly was replaced. Point is, there are a number of things that cause that message.
Before you get the read the riot act, the method prefered by the powers that be is to start a new thread with your problem. For instance even though this thread is not that old, 33% of the posters in this thread are not active of no longer on the forum. Unfortunate, but there is a lot of turnover on this site.

I had that come on a few times. I saw on another thread where a guys brake lights were out and causing this. I checked mine and sure enough they were out. My brake switch was bad and I think replacing it fixed that problem for me. I haven't been driving it much lately though. Good luck. Look for the simple fixes first :-)
