Default H3 Probable Head Issue What to Expect

My 2006 H3 engine light on and off starting at 54,000 miles. Now at 60,000 very rough idle, light on and flashing now and then. Dealership states will talk to GM about possible coverage under warranty even though over the 50,000. I've read a lot about the cylinder head issues and expect that is the problem. What should I expect as far as time in shop, GM's decision on warranty, etc. Any input appreciated!

I took it to the shop yesterday. Cylinder Head problem...cost $3000...they are charging me a $1000 deductble. Better than the whole bill I guess. Also they found leaking front axle seal? Parts in stock and will be ready by week end (fingers crossed)

Sounds better than the worse case scenario. The seal is probably CV related. As far as the cylinder head issue, I would try contacting GM directly. The horror stories are out there. However Ive talked with a couple of people that had the same problem and one guy was also out of warranty, he made a big stink about it and told them that he wanted to return the H3 and that the whole experience made him want to buy from another company... they fixed it free of charge, gave him a loaner for the few weeks, and than boosted his warranty to 10yr/100k!!!

Can't hurt to try right???

It was my understanding that the cylinder head issue was warranted to 5yr/100K miles after they owned up to it being a no-kidding issue. My '06 has only 15K mi. on it right now (only had it a few weeks) and I have my fingers crossed about the head not going out... If I have to pay a dime for the head problem I'll weld the doors on the dealership shut.

I called GM and was basically told they know of no problem. I asked them to please not lie to me. The dealership, which was not where I purchased due to closure, was not happy I called GM. I explained that I had heard of people getting this totally covered by warranty and thought I should not have to pay $1000 deductible?? PLUS $400 to fix a leaking axle seal. They then said others must have had a "better" relationship with the dealer...meaning bringing the vehicle to them for service. Talked to 3 people at GM who all said the same thing...nothing! I'm glad it is fixed and the dealership said they would warranty the repair for 1 year.
