H3 Performance Chip
Has anyone installed a performance chip on their H3?
Here is a link to one I found, but I reall have no idea how to pick one out. H3 Power Chip |
RE: H3 Performance Chip
After being somewhat involved recently with PCM programming on my H3..I've learned this chip tuner type only sets you spark in advance, a little more than stock...Stage 1, is slightly advanced = 89 octane, Stage 2, even more advanced = 91+ octane and a cooler thermostat because the engine needs to run cooler to prevent predetonation...So unless these contraptions do more than that, and I see no evidence of that.. like set tire calibration, MAF parameters, O2 parameters, Transmission shifting pressure, and a host of other settings, etc...The tuner performance you get for a $300.00 gadget, can be done by you dealer if you ask them for around $80.00.

RE: H3 Performance Chip
Well, the one you linked says it's for 03 & up H2 & H3's w/ a 6.0. But H3's don't have a 6.0, at least not yet anyway, and they only came out in 06. So, I'd make sure that you get something for the 3.5, or make sure it will work for a 3.5. Ask the seller, and make sure you're comfortable with the answers they give.
As for the stage 1 and stage 2, it depends on what you've done to it, or plan to do to it. |
RE: H3 Performance Chip
A couple of months ago when I was looking for the computer programmer (had one in my 04 H2), couldnt find anything available. So I started looking at Canyon - Colorado forums. Since the H3 and these trucks have the same engine. So down the road it might be easier to look for a Canyon - Colorado computer programmer than one for the H3. |
RE: H3 Performance Chip
That's what I was thinking too. It may even be a little cheaper that way. It seems sometimes that if it has "hummer" in the title, they tack on a little extra, just for good measure.
