Exclamation H3 Oil light alarm

Hello, I am new to this forum as well as a fairly new H3 owner. I searched other posts but seemed to hit a dead end on this issue.
My H3 recently was leaking a bit of oil and the oil alarm would pop on.
I took it into a local shop and they found that oil pan gasket was leaking, as well as the oil filter was not properly fitted. They sealed the pan and replaced the filter with oil change.
In the process I also had them replace the radiator hoses as they were old and collapsing a bit. They also did a coolant flush.

My problem is.. that I am seeing that my H3 kicks off the oil alarm when the temp reaches just above mid gauge. If I am on the freeway or highway with constant cooling its not an issue, but if I am in heavy traffic it kicks off mainly when I stop at a light or do some light braking.
I am taking it back to the shop to address the higher than usual coolant temp as I usually don't see it this high. Has anyone else seen this issue? Does the oil alarm normally go off when vehicle is hotter than usual? I have not seen this before on my other vehicles.

Thanks in advance!

Mid temp gauge? A temp gauge reading at 3/4 is completely normal. Keep in mind the dash gauge is not very accurate, more like an idiot light with a needle. To check your actual temp, you need a OBD II scan tool.

There are threads about the oil light here and at other Hummer related forums.

We would need to know what oil they put in your vehicle. 5W-30 what? Synthetic, Dyno and even brand.

What filter did they use? A bad filter can trigger the issue, just like low oil level. Have you checked the oil level?

You may have to get it scanned to see what it is doing, but you could have a bad sensor, or a dirty/frayed connection to the sensor. The H3 sensor does not read PSI, it is just a switch, when below a certain preset amount, it grounds to light the idiot message on the dash.

Thanks. I will check to see what oil was put in at the garage. I do not recall. They used an AC Delco filter since they suggested that is what is best for H3. I just had never seen an issue when it ran hot where the oil sensor would kick off.
I do have an ODB II I can use to scan again. Thanks!

May need a new Oil Pressure sending unit too.

Find out the viscosity of the oil first.

You might want to check the actual oil pressure. Have your mechanic, or garage, install an analogue gauge where the oil pressure sensor goes. Drive the H3 to get the same conditions to create the low oil light and check the pressure. Have the garage compare that to the H3 specifications. If the oil pressure is good then start by changing the oil pressure switch. I run a high quality 0w30 synthetic with an additive. I haven't seen the oil light come on yet.
