Default H3 hummer lover needs help!

My 2006 H3 is my "other" baby, and she needs help!

I started getting resistance to forward motion, especially while turning.
Acted like stuck in 4L, but light was not on.

Tried engage / disingage 4L several times.
Including driving in reverse.
No change.

Mechanic says computer component replaced ($1300) now finding damaged transfer case. Gotta be replaced too.

only about 60,000 miles.
Never abused, but mild 4WD from time to time.

Anyone else have transfer case trouble?

Thanks for any help.

Most likely the plastic shift fork in the transfer case, Alot of them going bad. They updated it later to a metal one. The part is relatively cheap, 25.00 or so, But sometimes needs additional parts, Won't know until the get it open. Labor is 3-500 to replace the fork depending on where you go.

Thanks Talusfan!

I hope you are right! They are going to "open 'er up" in morning.
I'll let you know.

I appreciate your answer.

before they tear it open check the 4x4 buttons they stick some times which causes it to not shift right. & like Talusfan siad it very well could be the shift fork if it hadn't been replaced yet. nothing to do w/ the computer though so you might want to take it to another mechanic

drtom......asked you SOME time ago if you would share, with the rest of us, how you wired your red light into the switches, but never got a reply. Is this a 'top secret' modification?
