Default H3 Hood Handles or Not ?,, Opinions wanted,,,

Hi all,,, please be nice to me Im a newbie to the Hummer forums.

So as a new owner of a Black H3 (I will post pictures soon) I have so far added chrome 22"wheels, brushed aluminim side steps, tinted front windows black, chrome gas cover and chrome front bumper letters.
My next thing is to replace the hood grill with either a chrome hood grill with no handles or one with handles,, everything so far that I have done to my H3 I have been very happy with and very sure of, except the hood grill,,,,handles or no handles.

I cant seem to decide if I like the look of handles or not.

Any input would be great.

Thanks much in advance.

I also drilled out out small pits for screws I used. I paid I think $179 for mine on eBay, which is a plastic one with triple chrome plating. Unfortunately unless you are willing to spend the $1000 for the billet aluminum one, the plastic one uses that 3M double-sided tape that is becoming infamously popular, but it wears out after about a month or two. I custom drilled those inverted bevelled pits and used screws with bevels under them so that it created a smooth look. It kinda looks like it's held onto the factory plastic with rivets. I didn't want the thing flying off on the highway, which may have eventually happened.

Thanks HummerGuy for posting the picts of your very cool looking H3.

Yea, I saw the ones on ebay but Im thinkin I would get the aluminim panel that replaces the stock plastic black one, RealWheels has the handles and non-handle versions that bolt on.

Your H3 does look great !!!!!!!!!!

Thank you! The longer I own my H3, the more prideful I am of it. Now it's turning me into one of those people that doesn't want to take it off-roading.

I think if you are willing to spend the money, definitely go with a real metal replacement one. You may also want to check out our sponsor's sites at the right of the page. They actually have some pretty cool hood covers. Some of them have proprietary ones that only they sell that you can't find anywhere else.

You may want one that is billet but has black handles, or something like that. That would look SWEET on your ride! Post some pics when you can. We want to see it!

Not One Bit! BUT, keep in mind the reason I bought the H3 in the first place was A) to take it on road trips B) to tow a camper trailer and C) to take it off-roading.

I have yet to do ANY of those things with it, mostly because of this house shananigan ;-)

HummerGuy has a sweet ride for sure...

For me I have decided against the handles. They are functional on a H2 but on the H3 they are strictly for looks alone. I am not trying to copy the H2 as I think H3's have a better looking style.

Everybody has their own taste and that is kool but I have decided "no go" on the hood handles.

Have rockin day everybody!

I would prefer that whole section not even exist, but because it does, I wanted to make it look nice. I honestly think sticking a black piece of ridged plastic in the middle of the hood is just plain stupid, but it's the signature Hummer look so they had to do it. I took it off before just to see what it would look like, and my wife didn't agree with me doing that ;-) I still blame this whole bling thing on her. She has turned me into a monster ;-) BUT, Now that I like it, I'm not going off-roading anytime soon. Maybe I will, BLAH i need another H3!

I beg to differ..the artifical Hood Handles serve a wonderful purpose...they work as Gun Sights for aiming on Jeeps[sm=shootshoot.gif]
