Default H3 head recall?

Hello Everyone thank you helping me out. I went to Firestone and they say my 2006 H3 troublelight is low pressure in cylinder #3. "Take it to a dealer because the heads have been subject to a recall." The dealer knows nothing about a recall for the H3 heads (of course) and I cannot believe Firestone would make this up. I know the heads are used on other models then Hummer could the recall be engine specific and not Hummer specific or something? A company recall and not a federal recall? I read a couple of blogs that say the valve springs were bad that year and subject to recall but nothing concrete. Any advise would be helpful.

Do a search on the issue on this forum and you will find out everything you need to know about the head issue including the VIN Numbers involved. Happy hunting.

You can search here for recalls for your vehicle.

Vehicle Owners | Safercar -- National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)

I think the only one I have is for the hood and I didn't want glue all over my hood.

thanks guys you are awesome...yeah the only federal recall is for the hood...but I thought (dreamed) that GM might have some voluntary recall on the heads...RJ is right, there are many complaints about them-bad guides not springs like I first thought

On this forum, go to the Hummer H3 section. At the bottom of the page there is a section that say "Display Options" Unless you changed the last item there, you only searched the last 2 months. There was never a recall as GM figured the defective heads would show up under warranty due to the weight of the vehicle. They did give some of the lighter Colorado/Canyon owners with the same engines a 100,000 mile warranty but not Hummers. As you will read, some were replaced after the warranty ran out but on a case to case basis.

I saw my old head, the valve seats were worn away. The valves were sitting so far up in the head.....
