Default H3 gas mileage

Checked it 3x so far. First two times driving to Pittsburgh and back, there are about 15 miles of mountain driving in that trip. Got an almost identical 16.48 and 16.49 MPG. Last trip to VA got 17.89. Would love to see the 19 on the sticker though!! lol

I talked to some people with Explorers and Cherokee's and they are getting 13-15MPG so I feel good about it.

I was only averaging 14-17 mpg. Just put a K&N intake system on and it dropped down to 12 mph. I'm probably taking it off.

Sorry, but that is Impossible..you probably have been goosing it more than nomal to get the intake to howl..

I agree Dennis, only way to lose MPG with an intake is if you messes up MAF or put on an over oiled filter. Even then I doubt you would see a 5 MPG drop in mileage.

That last two times I checked my mileage in the last couple of weeks, I got exactly 20 MPG and all I have is a K&N filter in a stock airbox, using 87 octane. That was with NO A/C and 50/50 city/highway driving, but I do have a stick and try to shift before the tach hits 2500 rpms. I've been experimenting with different driving habits and I finally found a pattern that has been getting me 20MPG almost every fill up. I've been topping off the tank and figuring it out that way. I'm sure once the temp drops its going to go back down again a little.

I agree. I have an 07 and have yet to get below 16. It is bone stock with 1400 miles and I have seen 18.5 on one fill up. Overall I am VERY impressed. So are other people when I tell them how good it does. I do agree though about the lack of aero-dynamics. Do they make a bug deflector for these things to try to better the air flow? If so, anyone got pics.

Side note: On my wife's car I Rain-X'd the windshield and all the rain goes up (like it should) On her Hummer, I Rain-X'd it and half the rain goes up and half goes down. What does that tell ya about the aero-dynamics.

They DO make a bug deflector for the H3. Only one company makes it. I will try to find a link for it. The only problem is the cheapest I have been able to find it is $88. That's quite alot for a piece of transparent plastic. I think they charge so much because they know they are the only company that makes it, and suckers like me will eventually buy it!

Thanks Mike. I am just not sure how it would look. I will do some research as well.
