Default H3 Exhaust Advise

Ok so we got my wifes H3 looking just the way we want it but we have created another problem.....it doesn't sound as good as it looks. I am considering installing the Magnaflow catback exhaust. I found some youtube videos of how the L5 sounds with it installled and I thought it sounded pretty good. Has anyone here installed this system on their Hummer? How was it to install? Do they leak at the clamps?http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=all&id=6896

I had one on an 06 and an 08. I liked the sound, direct replacement, easy to install and no leaks.

I installed the MagnaFlow cat back 4 years ago come April on my 07. If you use a sawzall to cut the OEM before it goes over the axle, the entire removal and installation is about 30 minutes. MagnaFlow uses a good quality exhaust band clamp, not regular "U Bolt" clamp.

If you want to save the OEM system????? for yard art????? or to **** off neighbors with it upside your house??? (got no idea why anyone would save that crap vs drop off at the scrap yard) you will need to jack the rear of the truck up to create more clearance over the axle to get the OEM system off intact. That will take a while of maneuvering.

Use some armor all or silicone spray to dowse the rubber hangers before you pry them off the OEM system with a big screwdriver or prybar (A Craftsman cotter key puller works outstanding if you have one), lube them again before you try to slip in the MagnaFlow.

These systems take about 1-2K or more miles to break in to sound their best.

Good luck.

Thanks guys but it looks like I won't be installing it myself. I went by the local muffler shop that dueled out my 70 Cutlass about 10 years ago and he said he could install the Magnaflow system for $600.00. I cant even buy the system that cheap.

Look for a "best offer" auction on ebay. You might be able to find/get it for less than $400. I was looking at a Magna system but went for a GM performance exhaust. I got it for a best offer of $250 (MSRP$1002). Just look, and give a reasonable offer, you'd be surprised.

I installed the 16330 today and have to say it was very easy (about an hour). I paid $445 shipped. It is louder than I expected and the wife does not like it.... Im hoping it tones down some or I will be pulling it off.

But purchased it outside of ebay. May want to make them an offer on ebay and mention the deal they gave me and see if they will do the same for you.

they seem to be inexpensive on ebay, I found them for around $400, I think it is a hit or a miss though
