Default H2 tranmission lifespan?

when does the transmission on a H2 (2004) typically crap out?

75k? 100k?

from what ive read, looks like exactly that range 75-100k.

What kind of costs will I be looking at if I need it replaced/rebuilt?

Looking at a nice looking 2004, has 75k miles on it. Tempted, but dont want to get hit with a massive $6k bill if the tranny blows within the first month driving the thing.

Thanks guys.

I dont think there is any reason for a tranny to give up at a certain mileage if it's been serviced and not been abused. A tranny rebuild wont cost $6k Maybe $2500
If it's a nice clean truck and a good deal spend some cash on an extended warranty.

I've had a 25 passenger h2 limo stock transmission make it to over 150,000 miles. If you need a new rebuilt transmission look on ebay you can find them for less than $1,000 shipped.

Pull the tranny dipstick and smell the fluid, If it smells burnt or is dark brown it could have had a tough life. If the truck is clean and priced right I would still buy it.

yeah it wouldnt be a bad deal. Trading off a vehicle worth about $17k + giving about 2k of other goods in trade..so $19k total for the H2. Not bad, even worst case I had to replace the tranny, total cost would be $21k or so...still a deal in my book.

Thoughts?

I think if you get the truck for a good deal, your prob, going to be ok. They seem to holding there value pretty well. My H2 has 60k miles and runs perfectly, shifts great and works eveythime. I don't hot rod it. The truck looks so good that I have no need to mistreat it. But you should def. be able to get a trans for under 2K. My best advise for a hummer owner is.....First, ,know your hummer.......Next Know your michanic and trust him. Treat your hummer like a small kid and check into any sniffles it gets and if you can't cure the sniffles with over the counter parts, call your trusted michanic...lol
